About CKC Computers

This page used to just say About Me, because back when this all got rolling, I was the only one around.  CKC Computers started when I went back to the University of Kansas to finish my degree.  It was something I could manage around my class schedule and it provided enough income that I didn't need a regular job that would be more likely to interfere with my last two years of school.  By the time I finally graduated, CKC Computers had grown enough that the income was better than any job I could get with my degree, plus it was big enough that I hired my first employee (my beautiful and talented fiancé).  We're still based out of Lawrence, Kan., the home of KU.

For those of you who are curious, my degree is in journalism, which helps explain why I make more money doing this.  I still find a little time to freelance now and again to keep my writing and editing abilities in shape.

It's still just the two of us.  I take care of customer support, maintaining the website, sales, and a host of smaller duties.  My fiancé takes care of shipping, receiving and inventory management.  Our skill sets ended up being surprisingly well matched to run this place together. 

We've been around for five years now, though it seems like just a couple of months ago that we were setting all this up and writing the first About Us page.  We take a lot of pride in the fact that we have saved thousands of computers and parts from being disposed of and helped thousands of customers keep their old machines running. 

Besides our sales here on the site, we also deal locally and have our full inventory listed on eBay. If you happen to like using eBay, you can find our sales here. At the time I updated this, we were near 7000 feedback at a 99.9 percent positive feedback percentage.
